Deafusion Racism Summit


With the widespread issues and lack of addressing issues on racism within the Deaf community, Deafusion has extended their focus to meet the needs of the community.

The meeting took place in Sacramento, hosted by Sheri Ferinha and was attended by, Sheri Ferinha, Karen Wilson, Lindsay Dunn, Mike Baer, Thuan Nguyen and John Wilson.

Points of discussion were:
1st Annual Racism Summit
- To bring together a cohesive body to discuss and address issues of racism within the Deaf community, including strategies for educating and eliminating discrimination based on both disability (handicap) and race in the academic, professional and social lives within our society and community.
- To solicit resources and seek assistance within the Hearing community's existing programs.
- To establish a speakers bureau
- To expand our mission and objectives on a global scale.
