Presidents Letter

Hello to everyone! Welcome to our new website! We are pleased to present to you our new and improved website that launches a new era in NADC's history. Our new look reflects a colorful portrait of our diverse organization and has all the features of a modern website. With new beginnings comes new hopes and optimism for an exciting future. As you browse in our website, you will note that we have added an e-newsletter, links that will accept your donation for our Campaign, a Message Board, a Chat Room, and personal access for contacting our respective Officers and Board members.

As the newly elected President of NADC, I want to thank you for your interest and support of NADC. I am honored to be of service to you in this position. With the help and hard work from our new Officers and Board members, I will do all I can to achieve the results that will make NADC a strong and thriving organization on behalf of the Asian Deaf Community in the USA.

My job as your President is to deliver on my promises and be a good steward of NADC. My commitment is to our Chapter Presidents, to you as an NADC member, and to visitors inquiring about the Asian Deaf Community by being available to respond in a timely and thorough manner. I will represent NADC to the best of my ability and with professionalism at all times. It is my hope that my pride of NADC will be so contagious that our national members will answer the call to leadership in setting up local Chapters and that our international colleagues will want to be like us and establish similar organizations in their respective countries. Let us give them the inspiration that they can do in their respective countries what we can do here in America.

During the 2004-2007 term, the following goals are anticipated to be reached: 1) increased revenues and pledges for the NADC Campaign; 2) implement Leadership Training workshops for our Chapter Presidents and interested members; and 3) put in action a youth camp and services for Asian deaf children and families. To do all of this, we request funds which contribute to the growth of NADC.

NADC is similar to the bamboo - when it was planted in the hearts and minds of our members (during the 1994 Asian Deaf Conference at San Francisco, CA), the bamboo grows so little, so slowly, with a great deal of pruning (care during growing pains) the bamboo shoots upward. It remains strong and resilient for many years afterwards. In comparison, it has been exactly 10 years since the first Asian Deaf Conference; the time for NADC to experience its growth is now! With proper stewardship by our Officers and Board, your financial and moral support, NADC will prosper. The dreams of our predecessors at San Francisco and Los Angeles will be realized. Our mission and objectives as being a premier organization will be recognized by and for the Asian Deaf Community.
